Abstract

Gold mining is an activity that can increase people's income, however, gold mining can also hurt if in practice without being followed by the wastewater treatment process results in better processing of gold ore. Miners are traditionally very rarely use protective equipment. So prone to accumulate mercury (Hg). Mercury (Hg) can be entered with through the skin, the respiratory tract (intalasi). Metal lead to complaints such as: pain kepalas, the nose is not sensitive smell, nausea, shortness of breath. The purpose of this study was to determine the levels of mercury in the blood of male workers in the gold mines Sijunjung. Blood samples were from men aged 20-50 years as many as 10 people. This study was conducted in January 2017. Mercury (Hg) is a quantitative analysis of the blood samples were performed by t test statistics Using the method ICP (inductively couple plasma), in the Faculty of Environmental Engineering, University of Andalas. The results showed that the ten blood samples examined four samples contained mercury levels in the blood exceeds normal value ie AA samples with high levels of 0.05401 mg / L DD with high levels of 0.05263 mg / L EE with high levels of 0.04447 mg / L and HH with high levels of 0.05088 mg / L.
